The Power of Turning Prayer into Motion

“We can reach our world, if we will. The greatest lack today is not people or funds. The greatest need is prayer!”  — Wesley Duewel

Here at Restoration Church, we are deeply blessed with a gifted and committed leader whose heart is entirely in his ministry. David Cecil, the facilitator of our Intercessory Prayer ministry, searches diligently for every possible opportunity to fill our building with prayer, gathering believers together to put prayer in motion and transform lives.

A Journey Born from Gratitude

David launched this vital ministry in 2019. The inspiration came after realizing the profound benefits of gathering as Christians for prayer, combined with his own incredible triumph over cancer. His deep gratitude to God for his life, and his unwavering faith in God’s willingness to listen, are evident in every conversation.

David’s wife, JoAnn, strongly supports the ministry and firmly believes that we are all called to pray. When looking for comfort, hope, and miracles in our lives, the answer is simple: prayer.

Opportunities to Connect and Pray

If you are looking for a profound, rewarding way to spend a portion of your weekend, you are warmly invited to join the Intercessory Prayer gathering. The group meets weekly in the Sanctuary during the following times:

  • Fridays: 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM
  • Saturdays: 8:30 AM – 9:30 AM

In a recent interview, David paused to reflect on a powerful prayer meeting, searching for the right words to convey the palpable presence of God. The Holy Spirit was clearly evidenced. Sharing that sacred space with fellow believers who came simply to be with Him is an experience we all want and need.

The Potency of Group Prayer

Praying together as a body of believers holds a power far more potent than most might consider. When our spirits gather in one place to lift our hearts, it becomes a sacred echo. We are agreeing together that God has the power to move, and Jesus himself assured us:
"For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them." — Matthew 18:20

New and Upcoming Prayer Initiatives

The Intercessory Prayer ministry is continually growing. Here are a few new ways you can get involved:
  • “First Friday” Prayer: On the first Friday of every month, we gather in the Sanctuary at 6:30 PM. The evening kicks off with worship, followed by focused prayer.
  • Quarterly All-Church Dedications: An all-church dedication to prayer occurs four times a year. Keep an eye on the church website for upcoming dates and announcements.

Submit Your Requests and Praises

Whether you can make it to the physical gatherings or not, this ministry wants to cover you in prayer. You can easily submit your prayer requests or praises for answered prayer in two ways:

  1. Connection Cards: Located right in the seat backs of the church sanctuary.
  1. Online: Submit directly anytime through the church website.

We sincerely hope you will take advantage of these prayer options. Many are already praying that you do. Most importantly, remember what David shared at the close of his interview: “God wants to hear from you.”

Follow-Up Exercises for Readers

  • The 5-Minute Daily Pause: Commit to spending just five minutes a day this week in silent, focused prayer—not asking for anything but simply sitting in God's presence and telling Him about your day.
  • Scripture Meditation: Read Matthew 18:19-20. Reflect on what it means to "agree" with another believer in prayer. Reach out to one friend or family member this week to share a specific prayer request and pray over it together.
  • The Gratitude Inventory: David's ministry was born out of a miraculous recovery and profound gratitude. Write down three things God has brought you through in the past. Turn those memories into a prayer of thanksgiving.
